Game Night In a Can is a party game for ages 10 and up that contains 30 games and a spinner inside the lid of the can. It’s well suited for family parties such as little kids birthdays. This supports 5-35 players and everything needed to play is inside the can except for pens and paper.
The game is setup by placing the spinner on the table and putting all the game cards around it. Next, everyone chooses to play with either rotating hosts or teams.
In rotating hosts, somebody spins the spinner to find the first host. That person picks a card and reads it aloud and then hosts the game. If teams are needed, the host creates them. The winner of a game gets 1 point, unless it’s the 7th game in which the winner gets 2 points. Whoever has the most points after the 7th game is the overall winner.
During team play, the host picks a random card and leads that game. Whichever team wins, gets 1 point. The 7th game gives the winner 2 points. After 7 games, the team with the most points wins.
Some of the games included are: The Demon Drop where all you do is try to drop the card in the can. The New National Anthem where teams must write and sing a new national anthem. Headline news where you spin the spinner to see what section of a tabloid newspaper you are writing a headline for and then write it. Backhand Baseball where you throw 3 crumbled up pieces of paper at each player and they have to bat it back over a home run line with their arm. Curate This where each person must choose an item at random in the room and write a backstory for it like they are a curator in a museum. Lastly, Wordy Durds is a game where each player makes up a brand new word and the host chooses his/her favorite.
GNIAC is best suited for grade school children who are looking for something more interesting than Pin the Tail on the Donkey at their birthday party. I think parents will have fun playing this with kids, but teenagers would probably prefer something more sophisticated. Most of the fun in the game really depends on having humorous players. The games themselves are really unsophisticated, so the fun is really the social interaction of the players. Demon Drop can never be fun by itself, but the players goofing around while playing it could be entertaining.
